Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule my first appointment?

Select Make an Appointment and complete the online request form. Our office manager will call to confirm your requested date and time.
You can also call our office at (706) 364-3209 to schedule by phone. If you’re scheduling for a minor, please have their demographic and insurance information available. Adults 18 and older must contact the office themselves unless the person calling is their legal guardian.

What should I expect at my first appointment if I'm unsure which service I need?

Your first appointment includes an assessment to help your clinician understand your concerns and recommend next steps. You may discuss what brought you in, relevant family mental health history, past substance use, and what you hope to gain from counseling. You do not need to know which service is right for you before you contact us.

Do I need a referral to begin services?

A referral is often unnecessary, but requirements depend on your insurance plan and the type of care you’re seeking. If you have TRICARE Prime or another plan with referral requirements, please check with your insurer before scheduling. Our office can help you identify what information to request from your plan.

What types of counseling do you offer, and what ages do you serve?

We offer individual, couples, and family counseling. We work with adolescents ages 12-18, young adults, and older adults, as well as couples and families. Our counseling approach draws on Reality Therapy, which emphasizes present concerns, personal responsibility, and choices that support meaningful change.

Do you offer in-person and telehealth appointments?

Yes. We offer both in-person and telehealth appointments. An in-person assessment is required before beginning telehealth services.

Which insurance plans do you accept, and how can I check my coverage?

We accept many commercial insurance plans. Visit our Accepted Insurances page for a current list, then call the member services number on your insurance card to confirm your specific benefits. Ask whether your plan requires a referral or prior authorization, whether the clinician is in network, and what deductible, copayment, or other out-of-pocket costs may apply.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. You can call the office and leave a message if we do not answer, or use the appointment system’s messaging options to contact us.

Is what I share in therapy confidential?

We protect your health information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and professional standards. There are limited situations in which information may be shared without your written authorization, including disclosures permitted or required by law. Your clinician can explain confidentiality and its limits at your first appointment.

Will parents be involved in an adolescent's counseling?

Parents or guardians may be invited to provide relevant family and medical history and participate in scheduling or treatment discussions. The clinician will explain how parent involvement and the adolescent’s privacy are handled at the start of care.
